Rogue Software

I think my Dell E510 is infected with a Rogue virus. My computer loads to the Desktop, but it has a blue background for wallpaper and nothing works. Every icon I click on does nothing. I can' even access the Start menu. Pressing crtrl alt delete does nothing. I can't right click or anything. I would appreciate any help, please.

It sounds as if you may have one of the really nasty infections currently going around. I suggest that you do a reformat/reinstall.

I was thinking that might be what I have to do. I just recently backed up the computer because I had gotten a new external harddrive. After I do the reinstall, do I just restore the stuff I want on the computer? Do I need to reinstall all the software too?

For heavens sake, make sure you do a thorough virus scan of the external drive, BEFORE doing a restore!!

You may have inadvertently backed up the virus to the external drive as well :emotion-3:

[edit]  I've just realised that's basically what the poster above me advised you to do!  My apologies :emotion-10: :emotion-42: [/edit]
