Server troubles at Dell?
This morning I thought that I would research the XPS 8300 after hearing that it might be withdrawn from production after Sandybridge problems but ran into a nightmare tangle of broken or invalid links. It seemed to be impossible to get information on any of Dell's hardware. Logging in to the UK site and selecting any link results in an error from the USA server. Select UK and back to the page you are trying to escape from. In the past I have always selected a product and then customized it and gone on to the checkout. Now, nothing works. Has anybody any idea what is going on? After an hour of tearing my hair out the only useful thing I have done is to join this community.

Whatever troubles the websites were having all now seems to be running smoothly. Went to the store and ordered an Alienware X51 because the XPS 8300 is indeed no longer on sale. Now to see if the new machine will take a dose of Linux. Will report back in a week or so.
