high pitched squeal on Studio 1537
Hello,
I've seen this problem on older posts but nothing recently. My studio puts out a high-pitched squeal from the left hand side of the keyboard when the power plug is connected. I did some "fiddling" with things to see what could make it stop. Like some people, I simply unplugged the power cord. That worked but obviously isn't practical. Next I took out the battery. Once again, worked like a charm but once again, not very practical. Is there a recent fix to this problem? It's obviously related to the power supply somehow. It isn't a fan issue. When the fan is off I still hear it. Any ideas everyone??

13 hours and no response yet? I hope that isn't a sign of despair over an unrepairable issue :emotion-6:

Definitely a battery issue. I uploaded numberous videos onto YouTube and posted a lot on different forums and no help. When mine got sent away to get the dvd drive replaced they also replaced the hard drive as I mentioned the noise again. I wonder what to do next? Request a new battery??

Mine does this to, Dell wants me to send it in. I asked if they would fix the keyboard while there at it. From what it sounds like its the M/B.

I had my motherboard replaced and hard drive and it was not this. The hard drive was replaced when my dvd drive broke. The noise only goes away when I have it on, plugged in and remove the battery. So the noise definitely comes from the battery charging. Now to see if I can get a new battery sent to me.

I had them send me a new battery and that did not fix it. Mine only does it when the battery has been discharged and I plug back in to charge/use. Once that battery hits 95-100% it stops.

Yeah that sounds exactly like my problem. Can't believe it took this long to find someone with the same thing. When did you get your laptop? Do you think I should try and get a new battery sent out? If I have to send it back again then I would consider asking for something else, since its still under manufacturers warranty and this would be the 3rd time sending it back. It's so hard trying to explain the problem over the phone. My numerous videos I made of the noise are hard to show as well since chat personnel are unable to view anything you send them other than text. The squealing annoys me sometimes to the point where I don't always charge it until 100%. It also affected me taking it to the studio and using the line out for audio playing out of the laptop into the recording desk.

I have had my 1537 Studio for over 3yrs and it just now started the power mains high pitched squeal only when charging. I'm 47 and my hearing has been blasted with live rock for years, so you would think I would not notice, but I do. Has anyone ever figured out the core issue of the problem, or got any justice from Dell on the problem? Sounds like a cheap capacitor or a few of them to me.
