monitor problem i think or could it be graphic card help please

i was working on my computer ( vista..and all of a sudden everything just disappeared and just verticle coloured lines appeared checked everything...couldnt switch computer off had to remove the power plug switched the computer on again just verticle lines..then i used another monitor just showing these vertical lines....cannot get into comp...any idea what the problem is ..grateful..thanks

Hello,

OK no problem. Your system has onboard video, and a video card.

For now I will assume that your monitor is connected to the video card. If so, unplug the system and remove the video card. At the same time remove the motherboard battery for 15Mins. Replace the motherboard battery, do 'not' reinstall the video card. Close the system and plug your monitor into the video connector on the back of the system.

Restart and tell us if you now have an image on your monitor.

What is your model number? And, do you know if you have the video on the motherboard?
