(redirected) Warranty - Held to ransom

Beware this warranty trap.  Don't rebuild your laptop out of warranty.

I have rebuilt my Dell Latitude E5530.  Unfortunately I have been told by Dell Support that unless I renew my warranty they will not release my OEM Windows 7 SP1 activation code.  Effectively they are holding it to ransom until I renew my warranty.  I was under the impression I purchased the OEM license with my laptop.  I opened a support case on this and was told I needed technical support which they wont give me without the warranty.  I opened a complaint [Admin Note: Personal Information Removed] but have had absolutely no response.

Its a pity. Its a great laptop.  I'm going to have to dump it now and start buying a different brand for our business
