Dell OpenManage Plugin for Nagios-Core with CentOS and Nagios rpm

Hi Raprop,

You can install the OpenManage plugin for Nagios-Core on the management node running CentOS where Nagios-Core was installed using either RPM or yum package manager.

You can always provide the Nagios installation directory when you run the Dell OpenManage Plug-In installer. If you do not provide a Nagios installation directory then OM plug-in installer will check for Nagios installation in the default directory which is "/usr/local/nagios".

I also suggest you to refer the following technical article that details step-by-step installation of the pre-requisites that are required by OM plugin. Even though the below article is for Nagios XI, the installation steps for prerequistes remain same.

The installer dont work even if say the path... rpm use /uar for base ....

and the installer show this:

Could you please provide below information for us to help you:

• What is the version of CentOS that you are running?
• How did you install the Nagios? You have mentioned above that you installed it using the Nagios rpm. Did you use the EPEL repository to download the Nagios rpm?
• In the above logs that you have provided, you provided the default Nagios installation directory as "/usr" which might not be correct. Usually, if you have installed using the rpm available from EPEL repository, then Nagios is installed in "/etc/nagios" directory. Could you please check if that is the case with your installation too?
• Dell OM Plugin should be installed using the "nagios" user that you must have created during the nagios installation. Other alternative is to use the "root" user but we don't recommend it for obvious security reasons. Could you please let us know which user you are using to install the Dell plugin?

I use CentOS 6/7 and create rpm from source,this is similar to rpm from EPEL. I try to use /etc/nagios but have same error.

nagios user exist and is used with nagios process.

I try to install with root lf need change some permission after have not problem.

Hi,

i would like to jump in because we have the same problem. Using CentOS 7 with Nagios Core 3.5.1. installed form the centOS reposiotory rather than self compiled  or by a unknown RPM.  In every distro i am aware the split the stuff into /etc/nagios/, /var/run/, /usr/sbin and so on. This is completly different compared to a --prefix=/usr/local/nagios when self compile from the sources.
