OptiPlex 7780 AIO, uninstall ExpressConnect?

I have a new OptiPlex 7780 AIO which came with Dell Optimizer Network (ExpressConnect) installed. Can I uninstall it? Is it a worthwhile application? I've stopped it from Task Manager with no obvious ill effects?

Express connect is the Rivet networks Killer networking smartbyte optimizer Junk.

HOWEVER don't remove it from there.

Uninstall Dell optimizer. During that uninstall it will remove the Rivet Networks express connect.

I used the wrong verb.  I know I am quite capable of uninstalling this app.  What I should have asked was "Should I?"

OK, I uninstalled the Express Connect application.

For the record, this app was loaded on my PC when I purchased the PC, new, from Dell last week.

Cool. It was probably just tracking software or sales rubbish.  Good to know they didn't brick your PC when you uninstalled their rubbish!

Dell used to not be so aggressive.

Had the same question, did some research and found this; Dell ExpressConnect is a network optimizer and is not the same as Alibaba Express Connect cloud services.

Respectfully, that just kicks the can down the road a bit to the question what is Dell Optimizer? From the web =

Dell Optimizer: Overview and Common Questions

"Dell Optimizer is a software application that intelligently and dynamically optimizes the performance of your system by using artificial intelligence(AI) and machine learning(ML)."

Oh man. I interpret that as meaning my computer will do MORE inexplicable things I have not told it to do, and FEWER things I tell it to do. Still hoping for some clearer understanding of the consequences for removing the Dell Optimizer Service. Or leaving it be.

There is no silent uninstall.  This is Rivet Networks Killer Networking aka SMARTNET aka Dell Optimizer.

Totally worthless software.

you can use WMIC, i believe.

anyway, Dell/Precision Optimizer is not THAT bad, for bloatware.

it installs a suite of sub-monitoring 'applets' that attempt to make your PC more efficient.  For example, it can monitor a particular program's CPU & battery use, over time, and make settings suggestions for you to consider.  Basically it interprets Performance/Resource Monitor stats, and identifies settings you can then implement to preserve battery life, etc, etc.

If you are technology-inclined--  likely you dont need any of this info.   But for the avg end-user who doesn't know whats what, i can see how it might help to fine-tune system settings.

Some of the applets are more useful than others (Audio and Battery vs the Network applet is pretty useless imho.

but anyways its easy to remove the suite; or just disable the individual applets.

start button, all apps, dell optimizer,  Rt-Click Uninstall.    done.

PS:  why do you need to uninst silently?

You can remove it silently.

Uninstall stings can be found in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

In this instance for me, mine was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{BED701C2-6642-4D3E-AE16-16DAF6E5F8B7}

The uninstall string is MsiExec.exe /I{BED701C2-6642-4D3E-AE16-16DAF6E5F8B7} therefore this means that you can actually run MsiExec.exe /X{BED701C2-6642-4D3E-AE16-16DAF6E5F8B7} /q and this silently removes the application.

(Note the change in switch from I to X)

Another option that worked for me was to *disable* the "Network" section of the Dell Optimizer software. Click on the "Network rectangle" (see picture) and use the enable/disable switch. Immediately the ExpressConnect process stopped using CPU

Hope it helps.

Best.
