In early October of this year, 2021, I received my Optiplex 7090 with a wireless keyboard from Dell though I had ordered a wired keyboard when I placed my order online through the Dell website in late June. Because of the urgency to replace my 9-year old Vostro laptop (that died that same week I received the Optiplex) I accepted the wireless keyboard. But now that I've been using it for almost 2 months I've experienced numerous frequent incidents where it types double letters. I've adjusted all the configurations possible to reduce the repeat rate but it continues occurring and has caused me problems and lost time correcting errors. The keyboard diagnostics tool detects no errors. It simply notes that all the keys work. At the moment it appears to be working fine as I type this. But then there are times when it repeats characters frequently. I keep hoping a software update will fix this, but I can find scant information on the internet that addresses my situation. My previous laptop keyboard had a similar problem with keyboard bounce that someone wrote a fix for and uploaded to the Dell Community. I tried the same fix with this keyboard but no such luck. The problem continues. I can't return the keyboard because I need it to work and I don't have a backup. I hope Dell or someone has a fix for this problem. Thank you in advance.
This problem still hasn't been resolved. Running diagnostics has been unhelpful since it seems to function perfectly, but typing e-mails, responding on social media and writing code for webpages is a different matter, and the numbers of double characters that I have to go back and correct is simply maddening. All software and drivers are up to date. Everything else with my Dell Optiplex 7090 works like a charm. Only this wireless keyboard typing double characters at random is driving me crazy. Most of the time it works fine, but then it starts bouncing characters out of the blue with no rhyme or reason. I keep hoping to run across someone else with this problem who has been able to fix it. I would love it if Dell sent me either another keyboard or a similar one that plugs in to a USB port so that I could return the one that appears to be defective.
You can call Dell Support and have the wireless keyboard replaced. However, it might have the same problem.
Personally, I don't use wireless peripherals on a Windows desktop that sits on a desk and doesn't move.
If I was you, I would either use the old Vostro keyboard, or just buy one of these. $25 and your problem goes away.

It also has a couple of USB ports; great place for a mouse dongle. But not enough power to run flash drives. One USB port on PC apparently doesn't have enough power for both keyboard and flash drive.

Right. Your standard Dell (membrane) keyboard, but business-version so a little sturdier. I like them. It has the lower-keys and the volume-control wheel is nice.
