Power supply in the 3050 is too small will not support a 75W card.

Note the itty bitty power supply much like the Inspiron 3650.

The Small Form Factor has only 180W.

2GB AMD Radeon™ R5 430 is a 45W card.

  • Manufacturer part H7WJ3
  • Dell part 490-BDLO
  • Designed For
    OptiPlex 3050 (MT), 5050 (MT), 7050 (MT)

Hi @manushk ,

As per GTX 1050ti Spec, recommended system power at 300w. Better upgrade your existing PSU as well.

Go for 1060 6GB!

I run it in my 3060 with an i5 8400.  You will need a SATA to 6 pin PCI power adaptor.

Dell power supplies can supply a consistent wattage higher than their written rating; 125w card, 65w CPU... still not even close to the 305w continuous.

I doubt that.

Plus, it's really not good running ANY PS near it's max-output or at 100% utilization.

The issue is that the power supply is itty bitty about the size of a laptop brick.   There are no upgrades from Dell. Same issue as the inspiron 3650.  Ugly hack using MODDIY adapter and putting power supply OUTSIDE the case. The  24 pin to 8 pin works on the 3040 but the 3050 uses a 6 pin connector.  I am not aware of anyone that makes an adapter so you would need to modify the 3040 cable.

3050 uses 6 pin not 8 pin3050 uses 6 pin not 8 pin

There is a specific GTX 1060 that Fits and works.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 06G-P4-6163-KR,
6GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC), Only 6.8 Inches

HOWEVER you need to hack the power supply as the stock unit is too tiny and too small.  The 4 pin ATX power connection is fine but the 24 Pin needs an adapter to 8 pins. Recommended power supply is also very specific.EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B1, 80+ BRONZE 750W, 110-B1-0750-VR

The B1 works fine.  B2 BQ G2 GS etc DOES NOT WORK.  You have to remove the stock unit and leave the new unit OUTSIDE The case because it physically does not fit inside.  Secure Boot must be OFF and Legacy CSM on.

Bruh, I'm maxing Ace Combat 7 locked at 144fps with no stutters.

I'm pulling all 125w and utilizing 100% on benchmarks.

I am << >> at max pulling 220 watts; but it is working for me despite not having the minimum 400w or whatever rating.

Its working! Even on genuine 200w Dell psu. Only one challenge was to find enough space in ssf box but i remove CD and HDD frame and fit IT by the pcie 16x tape on box cover
