MSI GeForce GT 1030 2GH LP OC on Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF

Jump to solution

Hi,

 I just got myself an MSI Geforce GT 1030 OC Silent 2GB and tried to install on it my Optiplex 9020SFF however it will only fit on the x4 slot as its too big on the x16. Is it ok or should I just return it? Thanks! 🙂

This is how my board looks like.

@pride34,

Thanks for starting a thread.  I do this from my Android 8.1, and the new private messaging format isn't working with it.  I had to type blind without seeing a text box.  Then shrink keyboard to see what was typed so far and so on.  Messages appear and then disappear.

The GTX 1050 ti is ahead of the GT 1030.   Did you happen to see this pgh. in the article you linked?  I pasted it below:

Regarding the performance for 4x PCI-E, compared to 16x PCI-E, most people on the internet say there will be little or no performance difference for 1050Ti class graphic card. Of course there will be quite a lot of difference for a higher graphic cards, such as GTX 1080, but 1050Ti is not powerful enough to get benefit from 16x PCI-E, meaning 4x PCI-E is fast enough to transfer all data between GPU and CPU.

The x4 slot should be just fine.

Hello guys! I just received my MSI GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile OC - 2GB GDDR5 RAM order yesterday. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/L8EAAOSwVw9el3o8/s-l500.jpg Installed it right now and tried running COD and it works. I'm still waiting for my 18yr old son to try it out when he wakes up. 😄 Thank you so much to both of you who helped me with this.

The GT1030 isnt the fastest card on the market but for 720P and low settings it does work with many games.
