Maximum RAM on Optiplex 760

I need at less 16GB RAM to run a virtualized envinronment. May I install 16GB DDR3 in my optiplex 760 ?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500

Motherboard Model: DELL 0R230R

Motherboard Chipset: Intel Q43 (Eaglelake-QF) + ICH10D

BIOS Version: A16

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Build 7601

Solarwinds, I have followed what you said. And yet it does not work. What am I doing wrong? Bios A16, 4x4 16GB non-ECC DDR2. All it does is Beep.  So my assumption is, that it does not recognize it.

Dell OptiPlex Series (Desktop Mini-Tower and Small Form Factor)

4 Gig modules do exist.  HOWEVER they are not worth buying.

Patriot PSD24G8002

is the only working 4 gig module once bios is updated and totally not worth over $100 per dimm.

High density ram is NEVER working ANY Size ANY speed.
