Quads are Quite a bit more than Duo and require 305 - 375W power supply so no this is not supported.

Specific models Like the Inspiron 530 for example have a specific motherboard and 350W power supply.

Same with the Precision T3400/3500 with 525W power supply.

Hi @S0ULZ_X,

I take it you're referring to your Optiplex 380 DT that you mentioned in your other thread.  Max CPU it can take is Intel Core 2 Quad 9650 3.0GHz 95 watt.

Hi @S0ULZ_X ,

And motherboard chipset for Core 2 Quad CPU in socket LGA 775 do not support Intel Integrated Graphics.

“May the Force be with Dell.”

He has a small form factor unit with 235W power supply.

Using a Quad Core Processor without the performance Copper  heat sink H896D may be an issue. The Aluminum version 2RNJH will likely have "issues"

Hi @bmcowboy,

Where did you get that from?  If I may ask; it's the first I heard of it.

I wish people would really stop trying to upgrade ancient PC systems like this, as it's a <Profanity removed>game and all you'll lose is your money... and possibly <Profanity removed>your otherwise-working system.

Just be happy such an old PC still works, and take that upgrade money and save it for a new or refurbished system in the future. No upgrade is going to do anything substantial to any system older than a 4-series Intel Haswell.
