Optiplex 7460 AIO, Windows 10 14393, audio driver?

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0274&SUBSYS_1028084B

Dell supplied driver is only working for a minimum Windows 10 Creators Update (or build 15063) version

Version: 6.0.1.8385 ,A00
Release Date: 15 May 2018
File Name: Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_RTKHH_WIN_6.0.1.8385_A00.EXE

File size: 97.75 MB

https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/product-support/product/optiplex-7460-aio/drivers

https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER04849976M/1/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_RTKHH_WIN_6.0.1.8385_A00.EXE

but I am using (in business) RS1 LTSB 2016 (just because it is still the latest LTSB released by MS)

Are there any drivers for RS1 which will allow output selection?

Default Windows drivers work, but sound ONLY comes out of internal build-in speakers (no headphones jack or back speakers jack can be used!)

Found a driver that installs (6.0.1.8491), but that does NOT give me selection of outputs:

There has to be some other problem, other than the sound driver.  The default Windows installed "High Definition Audio" driver will output to the external speaker jack(s) and headset jack.  The only thing it won't provide is "Stereo Mix" for recording.

I haven't seen any specific Realtek driver for any specific Win 10 OS version or build, on the tenforums.com which is the best source for Win 10 issues. There is no change in the OS audio design from version to version (or build).  I'm in the Windows "insider" program and get advanced releases of Win 10 (I now have the fall build version) and there are no audio issues with this new version.

Dell chose to use UAD drivers for the Optiplex 7460 instead of the traditional HDA (or non-UAD) Realtek audio drivers

Default HDAudio gives only headphones, but NOT back jack

Unless you have this model, please do not state half-truths.

It does NOT work, I can not says it in any simpler way. I need back jack to work for EXTERNAL powered speakers (because that is the setup of the rooms these machines are in)

Interesting, they should work (and also my suggested solution). I suggest you Uninstall and delete all that other stuff ... let it PnP the device and load the 64bit Microsoft driver from Windows Update (or local driver-cache).

While using this driver, did you try disabling the other audio-devices and set internal analog "sound-card" device as the Default?

1. How can a suggested trouble-shooting procedure be true-or-false? :TongueTied:

2. Maybe it's just bad karma.

3. I understand. Good-Luck with that. :Indifferent:

I noticed that OP mentioned the hardware device ID number "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0274&SUBSYS_1028084B" for his Optiplex 7460 machine

This kind of information is very important, as I may have unexpectedly found a compatible driver for his computer, even though it is for a different Dell series of computers (aka. not Optiplex) but is compatible with that hardware ID (and compatible with at least Win7).

v6.0.1.8492 A17 (257Mb) [released 8/13/2018]

I should warn the OP that he may not get the control panel options he requested.  Instead of "Realtek HD Audio Manager" found in the customized/specialized driver that I mentioned, he may get either "Dell Audio by Realtek" or simply called "Dell Audio" and he will control the audio options only thru the packaged Waves Maxxaudio software from the Dell audio control panel.

Jim Coates has discussed about what happened to the original Realtek HD Audio sound manager control panel app in this forum thread (and was replaced by Dell Audio control panel):

https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General/What-happened-to-the-original-Realtek-Sound-Manager/td-p/5186936

and in this older thread:

https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General/newbie-Dell-Audio-and-Realtek-Audio-Manager/td-p/4495885

note to fireberd & Tesla1856: OP is using an "LTSB" version of Windows 10, which is not normally designed for the Optiplex 7460 computer unless OP obtained the proper license for it, either through a Microsoft subscription or through a valid volume licensing agreement.  Please read here on what Win10 LTSB is used for.

Thanks, will get it tested. Nothing beats LTSB 2016 for login/usage speed, especially for shared machines.

Sadly we are at the time that LTSB 2019 does not yet exist

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 (Long Term Support Build) is the current LTSB release.

There is always a 3 year gap so 2019 isnt going to be released early.

There is a specific OEM MAXX Audio driver Cab set that needs to be unzipped to a folder with 7zip and then Moved to the My documents folder.

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Then Right click on devices and say Install from my machine and include sub folders not install from the internet.

https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER04988077M/1/7460%20AIO-Win10-A00-4XP4K.CAB

You do not have the Realtek ALC3289 & OEM MAXX Audio drivers loaded. These are paired specifically with the oem driver set for audio which is 160 megs.

@speedstep

Nobody ever told you that shouting is NOT nice?

Also please refrain yourself from giving advice if you have nothing to contribute?

7460 AIO-Win10-A00-4XP4K.CAB is just an OLDER version of current 7460 AIO-Win10-A01-K7NPM

and both have ONLY the UAD driver (same that one can download from drivers page)

Text in a larger Font is not shouting.   MAKING ENTIRE SENTENCES IN ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING.  Specific Words like WINDOWS or OEM is not shouting.

Also please refrain yourself from giving advice if you have nothing to contribute?

The maxx audio oem driver is not the driver you show on your screenshots.  You are asking for features from the Generic Realtek driver that are only in the oem version.

This is not a hardware audio issue nor Operating System issue The Waves Max Audio software is tied together with the Realtek Audio Driver. Once you reinstall the drivers the issue will be resolved.

You download the Cab file then Unzip using 7zip.

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Then copy the extracted folder to the My Documents folder.

Then Right click on critical elements like the USB interface, Chipset Interface,  Audio Interface, etc.

Both the INTEL HD Audio as well as the Realtek HD Audio and the MAXX Waves Audio components will need to be installed via Right clicking and updating driver saying that you get the driver from my computer not from the internet.  The 3rdparty directory under audio has the MAXX Audio mixer components.

That driver is for RS2 & above ONLY (UAD) - and in anything > RS2 it works perfectly FINE

I was asking for driver for RS1 (HDA)

Please do not answer when you do not understand the question! (pointless screenshots do not make it any more convincing!)

@erpster05

Many thanks, this driver indeed works as it should

I wish Rockstar(s) did not get involved here (they are just not stars, unless falling ones), as none brought anything useful to this thread! (just lots of BIG fonts - for absolutely NOTHING)

although too little too late for this but the Realtek audio 6.0.1.8351 A12 driver for the Optiplex 7450 may also work on the Optiplex 7460 though it is older than the one I mentioned in my previous post

Microsoft is scheduled to release the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (build 17763) [aka Redstone 5] in early October and Dell will need to provide new Realtek audio drivers if the current ones turn out to not work well with the next release (RS5) of Windows 10.

also the upcoming build 17763 of Win10 will also be available in LTSB/LTSC edition sometime this coming October 2018.  OP may want to upgrade to the newer LTSB/LTSC edition when that one comes out.
