RMAN Backups from FRA on to DD

Had a question from a customer who would like to RMAN backup from FRA.

They specifically want to understand if they can leverage either the DD Boost functionality (libddobk) or if they can leverage RMAN incremental merge for such backups.

Answer from Parn Madis:

Regarding incremental merge, in short – DD as NAS: yes, DD via DD Boost (or VTL): no. FRA or no FRA makes no difference, both are supported. To explain it in more detail, the reason is that incrementally updated backup is only supported with disk backup targets (RMAN channel DEVICE TYPE DISK), but DD Boost (and VTL) integration is using SBT integration (RMAN channel DEVICE TYPE SBT) via DD integration library as you noted.

There was a PPT with good overview and comparison of both methods.

thank you , just downloaded. Do you have access to documentation that explains how to configure DD Boost for RMAN. Something that i can share with my DBA, how to install the binary on the host, how to configure DD Boost on Data Domain library.
