Cant See any Power Settings for my Servers

Hi all,

Just installed Power Center v1.2 and have been adding in some of our G11 R510 and T410 servers, however I am unable to see any power details even after leaving it running for a few days.

I can see temperature updates, just not power.  The servers have been added in using IPMI protocol and an administrative account.  I even tried creating a new administrative account, but had the same result.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich.

Re: Cant See any Power Settings for my Servers

I beleive that R510 and T410 are not supported in Power Center.  The list of supported servers is listed in the Power Center User's Guide.

Hai.

Re: Cant See any Power Settings for my Servers

After a few emails between Dell Tech support and myself here's another update....

  • The iDRAC does indeed respond correctly to the IPMI power commands for both the R510 and T410 servers.
  • Modifying the sampling interval in the OMPC back to default of 1min allowed me to re-establish comms to all my servers and I allow me to see power for the R510 (Not T410).  See image for R510 server below...

  • The T410 will only seems to show a consitent the mimimum power level of 190W.
    See below....

  • I am also still seeing the "Cannot Register Event on Device" messages quite frequently for both the R510 and T410.

    Refer previous posts here...

These are followed shortly thereafter with "Communication with Device Restored".

Cheers,
Rich.

Re: Cant See any Power Settings for my Servers

For "Cannot Register Event on Device", follow the steps from Lori's posting in this forum.  Also Power Center registers the event to iDRAC during the discovery process.  You might want to remove the servers from Power CEnter and re-discover them again.

Sometimes the min, average and max power have the same value and all of the m cannot be seen.  You can diable or able any of these by click or select the line from the table below the graph.

Re: Cant See any Power Settings for my Servers

Hi Hai,

Yes, I did follow Lori's post earlier.

You are correct with this...  "Sometimes the min, average and max power have the same value and all of the m cannot be seen.  You can diable or able any of these by click or select the line from the table below the graph."....I can see max, min and average, but all are on 190W for all (52) of my T410 Servers.

I have re-added all of my servers a number of times previously, even on seperate VM's with Power Center, but I have done so again for one of the T410's and noticed power min, max, and average still moves to 190W....

Not sure is this is related but seeing some strange messages coming through from the iDRAC on one of the T410's....
