2 CPU = 128GB
1 CPU = 64GB

Server 2016 is supported. You should update your server firmware before installing (should be updated regularly anyway).

I'm sorry, I'm usually more careful with the word "supported" ... it is not on any of the validation lists, but it does work. I have a couple running 2016 with no issues.

I rarely upgrade the OS in-place. I typically upgrade when we get new hardware. I'm not going to say that is my recommendation, though. Why upgrade? What specifically are you looking to gain by an upgrade to 2016?

May I ask how you know that Server 2016 is supported for R510? I have found the opposite in two separate locations:

Or do you mean that even though R510 is not formally supported, it will in fact work? That might be good enough for me...

Cool. How did you deploy?

Using Lifecycle controller or just from a DVD?

How did you get raid drivers available to Windows?

USB ... I seldom use LCC. H700 drivers are built into 2016.

Brilliant. This is extremely helpful.

Final question: Would you recommend doing an upgrade install from 2012 R2? The server is a hyper-V host

Good question.

The windows license comes from our status as a Microsoft partner. We are required to upgrade to the newest version (2016) no later than one year after it is released. We would not do it otherwise.

Hmm ... interesting. I've never heard of that requirement. I suppose you could tell them that, technically, 2016 isn't supported, so 2012 R2 is as far as you can take that hardware ... to avoid having to do the upgrade at all.
