Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility for SAS and SATA Disk

Hello All,

I've recently had a disk fail in one of the Servers I manage. I purchased a replacement disk and started the rebuild process.
The disk is now displaying as online when you boot into the RAID configuration menu.
The only difference is the firmware version the current 4 disks all display firmware version ES66
Where as the new disk I have installed displays firmware version 0006

Is Dell Nautilus the tool I want to be using or is there a better way of doing this?

If this is the case, I have looked into the software and can see you can create a bootable USB and update the firmware that way.

Server Model: PowerEdge T620
Operating System: Windows Server 2008 R2
RAID Controller: PERC H710 Adapter
HDD: Seagate ST3600057SS
RAID Level: RAID 5

Thanks,

Aaron.

RE: Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility for SAS and SATA Disk

Hello.

Dell Nautilus is a common tool used to update firmware on the hard disks. You may also use the Dell Update package for hard drives. See instructions at the bottom of the page on this link: www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

Hello Robert,

I can see the Dell update package link you posted is for firmware version ES68

Will this allow me to update the new hard drive I have installed to firmware version ES66 or is there a link for the ES66 version?

Thanks,

RE: Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility for SAS and SATA Disk

I have downloaded the update package for firmware version ES66

Seagate SAS6 ST3300657SS, ST3450857SS and ST3600057SS firmware version ES66

www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

When executing this program it will only find the 4 hard drives with the current firmware version on. The new hard drive with firmware version 0006 installed is not picked up by the program.

Does this mean the only way to update the firmware is by using Nautilus?

I have tried creating a Bootable USB using the Nautilus software but when selecting boot from USB in BIOS it fails.

RE: Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility for SAS and SATA Disk

Hi Chris,

I have run this update and it can only find the 4 hard drives that have the current ES66 firmware installed.

Does it matter that the new hard drive I installed is set as the global hot spare?

Thanks,

Setting your hard drive as a Global Hot Spare does not matter. There seems to be a firmware mismatch with the new hard drive. Are you using a Dell certified hard drive? What is the part number?

RE: Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility for SAS and SATA Disk

I have now booted into the Dell Nautilus Utility. The firmware update worked for 4 disks and updated to Firmware version ES68. This new disk is still showing as firmware version 0006 and when I try to apply the firmware update in the Utility it displays a message saying the firmware is already up to date?
