Having trouble installing an OS on a PowerEdge 2850

I have recently purchaced a second hand Dell PowerEdge 2850 U1 server and I am having trouble installing an OS on it.

This is my first server so don't laugh at me if it is a simple fix :emotion-4:

I have no trouble geting it to boot of the disc but once it loads it says no drives detected

Can Anyone help?

Hi Again,

Yes I am using 2008 R2 but I have configured my RAID array. I downloaded the driver that you said to get and put it on a flash drive and then I tried to install windows, I selected load driver and then I went into the flash drive and there was nothing there...are you sure this is the right driver?

Also this is the DRAC that Im thinking of geting  www.ebay.com/.../251094652225

What do you mean "G2"?

Boot to the BIOS Setup (F2), Integrated Devices, and make sure that Embedded RAID is enabled.  CTRL-M will only show if you have the RAID hardware (key, memory, battery) AND it is enabled in the BIOS (which converts the onboard SCSI controller to a RAID controller).

Hi again lol, I have purchaced my 3d and probably final poweredge 1850 but I tried to set it up and I noticed that it is a G2...I press Ctrl+M to get into drive config but it wont...instead it says press Ctrl+A and I did but it takes me into LSI Logic MPT SCSI Setup Utility and cant seem to figure out how to create a logical drive...can u help?

G'Day THEFLASH 1932, I have the same problem as above and I was wondering if those drivers will work with all OS as I am trying to install Windows Home Server 2011.

Cheers

Richard

Home Server 2011 is based on Server 2008R2, so the 2008R2 driver should work.  Just remember to configure RAID before attempting to install the OS.
