Installing windows 2000, with the raid controller HELP!!!!!!

Dell PowerEdge 440/800

O/S: Windows 2000 Server

I configure raid5 in the utilities. After this I went to install 2000 server and presses f6, pressed S to specify location for driver and get message "file txtsetup.oem could not be found"

Its a poweredge expandable raid controller 3/di v2.1-3 Build 2951. Does anyone have the PERC I need to install so that I can get this going.  Is there something I am missing. There is no drivers for this build which I suspect to be the issue. I could only find build 2947 and 2963. I was going to upgrade the firmware to the latest version then download the corresponding drivers is this the right thing to do.

Thanks in advance

Hi Smitty,

These are the files you need to get Win2000 installed on your PowerEdge 4400 (install in this order):

Dell Server System BIOS, PowerEdge 4400, A11
FileName:  4400-A11.exe [525 KB]
Release Date:  12/16/2003
http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?releaseid=R65153

Dell ESM Firmware, PowerEdge 2550, 4400, A56
Filename: a56cust.exe (405 KB)
http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?ReleaseID=R34150
Note: Extract the files to a DOS bootable floppy disk. Boot the server to this floppy disk, and run smflsh.exe.

Adaptec PERC3/Di, Firmware, PowerEdge 4400, v. 2.7.1.3571, A10
Filename: BO357110.exe [924 KB]
http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?ReleaseID=R47401

Begin the Win2000 install, pressing F6 when prompted to load this driver:

PERC2, 2/Si, 3/Si, 3/Di, Driver, 2000, v. 2.7.1.4944, A12
Filename: w2ka12dr.exe [211 KB]

Once the Win2000 upgrade is complete, you will get an "unknown" device for the Scsi Backplane in the Device Manager; This is not a hardware error, simply Win2000's way of identifying hardware. The "Driver" does nothing more than put a name to the "Unknown" device.

There is one "workaround": Win2000 may not autodetect the backplane, but if you choose Update Driver > Select from List > Show all Hardware > choose any of the backplanes in the list.
