New a driver
I just bought this Dell sc1420 tower server. I bought a SCSI tape backup unit for it. I also bought a Dell N5694 SCSI controller with cable. My problem is that I have used every version of the driver files that I can find. None of them will install. I have Windows Server 2003 x64 R2. I have 4.0.0.5813 firmware version. Is there a valid driver file lurking somewhere on the Internet? Or do I need a better, more updatable SCSI card?

The PERC 320/DC is a rebranded Adaptec controller, so while Adaptec may not have a 2003x64 driver, Dell does. There are not 2003R2-specific drivers. You can try (if you haven't already) one of these drivers:
2003x64:

XPx64:

There is a good chance that you will need SP2 installed in order to install it.
I would try a non-RAID SCSI controller, like the 39320:

This driver "should" work to install the card:
http://ftp.dell.com/scsi-raid/RAID_DRVR_WIN_R98040.EXE
HOWEVER, as a "RAID" card, it is a poor choice for a tape drive. You should get a SCSI, non-RAID, controller.

I tried that and no luck, thanks. I've found a number of drivers that look good but won't install. I just haven't found any, Dell or otherwise, that address the "R2" version. The one you pointed me to was for Windows Server 2003 "x64" versions which is part way there. Keep in mind that I'm looking for a PERC 320/DC driver for Windows Server 2003 x64 R2.

Just received word back from Adaptec about my predicament. They informed me that there are NO drivers available for that controller for Windows Server 2003 R2 x64. My question for everyone is, :Is there a U320 SCSI controller with the necessary drivers?" Preferably using PCI-X.
