No hard drive detected or disk controller not supported, R720

Hello all, I installed Server 2008 on R720 sometime back and all was fine until last week when the server wouldn't boot into windows anymore. We decided to run VMWare ESXi on it via a bootable USB but have since faced various issues and error messages:

During boot up: f/w is in fault state, 0xff0f2022)

Then: Baseport adapter is not responding..no adapter

I then ran the Unified Server Configurator's hardware diagnostics and got this message:

No hard drive detected or disk controller not supported

Also got these error codes during the hardware diagnostics:

Error code 2000-0251

Validation 120023

Msg: Event log- The log contains failing records

Can anyone provide a guide on how to fix this issue? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

The error that it is giving is for the PERC controller not responding. The steps to take are, power off the server and unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and see if it redetects the controller. If that doesn’t work reseat the controller and cables.

What if you have tried those steps and are still getting the same error?  We had a power blip before this started.  I tried putting a known good drive in just to see if there was any activity lights but it was the same.  Do I need to replace the controller or possible bad motherboard?
