PowerEdge R930: SSD PCIe NVMe or SAS SSD or SATA SSD?
Hello,
I am definitely lost with all these kinds of discs. In terms of pure performance, which technology should be favored? PCIe first? Then SAS and finally SATA?

Ah yes. I'm probably not on the same page as you are. Apologies.
If you are using R930 backplane configuration for 2.5" PCIe SSDs, then yes. It is supported. I was referring to M.2 PCIe SSD. Anyways, yes you are right. Performance wise, PCIe will be considered the best performance then SAS, lastly SATA.

Hi Joey, sorry but i don't understand your answer because in my old R920 I had a chassis with NVMe option, I also had an NVMe disk and it worked very well, this option is not available on the higher generation?
In fact, I don't know if we're talking about the same thing (joke).

No, not really. It is not a secret data. The thing is that the list is not compiled and when we check for compatible parts we need to check in a few sites to offer you the information.
However, sales representatives have access to better sales tools where they can extract much easier this information. Please, note you are speaking now with us, the guys from support.

NVMe is faster. But I suggest just to google this question, as there are many articles written about it with graphs and comparatives.

Ok i understand, but you need my context. I am a freelancer and I am looking to set up a server to test technical solutions and I chose the Dell R930 which corresponds very well to my needs (I previously had the R920). The server will be purchased second-hand from a supplier who practices refurbished.
For discs I also look for good deals on Ebay, for my R920 I had done this and it worked very well. It may shock some people but it's not a production machine, just to test technical solutions. At my level, it wouldn't make sense to pay $5,000 or more for a disc. So thanks to a list I can search the net for good deals, you know everything.
