Poweredge R730 Diskless / Upgrade to Hardware Raid possible?

Hi,

we have an R730 (without hard disks) with external memory (PowerVault MD3820) and would now like to retrofit a Raid Controller (H730). Built-in is currently a backplane of the two cables go to the motherboard (for software raid). The chassis being used is the 8-bay 3.5". We would like to install 4 SAS SSDs.
Is this possible? Which parts do we need?

Thank you

Hello

You will need different SAS cables. If you use the mini/integrated version of the PERC you can use this cable. This cable is for connecting a mini PERC to an x8 3.5" backplane on an R730.

Thanks

Is this the same cable for an HBA 330 mini to an 8 x 2.5 backplane in an R630?

No, it is not used in the R630. If it will reach the backplane then it may be usable. The connectors should be the same. This is one of the cables for a mini-PERC with an 8 drive backplane on an R630.
