SAS cables compatibility 01PDFM and 08T05V

Hi,

Are cables part numbers 01PDFM and 08T05V compatible, apart being 2x and 4x?

I see the first being refered as Nmve and the second is not, so I wander if two 08T05V might make up one 01PDFM.

Thank you.

From the part number given I assume you have PowerEdge R730XD platform. PowerEdge R730xd support NVMe only on X24 backplane and only slot support NVMe drives. you can refer below link for supported configurations

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/poweredge-r730xd/r730xd_ompublication/hard-drive-backplane?guid=guid-819d25ec-20c8-4c4b-9ad0-390ef336adff&lang=en-us

For this to work you need to cable as mentioned in "Figure 4. Cabling diagram—2.5 Inch (x24) SAS/SATA backplane (option 3)" of below link

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell.

These are two different parts:

8T05V  ASSY 2.5" SAS HD Cable, (Poweredge R730XD)

1PDFM ASSY Cable 2.5" PCIe SSD, (Poweredge R730XD)

As Young E mentioned these are two different parts. Part 8T05V is used for connecting backplane to PERC controller. This is for SAS/SATA drives on the backplane. Part 1PDFM is used to connect backplane to NVMe expander card. this is used for NVMe drives on the backplane.

Hi,

Even if they're both SFF-8643 to SFF-8643?

I had an order for 3x 1PDFM and they sent me 2x 1PDFM and 2x 8T05V to make up for the three ordered, as if they would be compatible.

So, I have to ask for substitution of that 2x 8T05V as I actually need 1PDFM?

Thank you again.

@DELL-Shine K thank you very much for the reference.

So confirming I can't substitute 2x 8T05V for 1x 1PDFM, I will double check they actually send me what I ordered.

Thank you again.
