T420 Addl Hard Drives - Why price disparity

Adding a RAID1 pair of drives to expand existing server.

Dell 10K SAS Hot Plug 2.5-inch in carrier apparently all the same.

600GB  Order Code 400-ajqb  $592.15

1.2 TB  Order Code 400-ajpi    $721.21

1.8 TB  Order Code 400-ajqm  $985.04

2.4 TB  Order Code 400-avbx  $742.08

Why is the 2.4 TB so inexpensive. Should I be afraid?  Is it a shingled drive or some such?

My guess is economies of scale. More 2.4TB drives are currently produced and those smaller drives just aren't mass produced anymore, which increases price of production for each unit.

That said, I wouldn't exactly call 700 bucks for a 2.4TB drive "cheap".
