Why perc h710 keep losing the raid config?
Every time I start the server (R720) I need to import the raid configuration. Does someone know how to fix this?

Note: not every time, when I restart windows it correctly detects the virtual drives.. Seems like that when the server stays off without main power for a while it loses the raid memory.
From my understanding the battery should not be the problem because it is used only to store the latest data cache and not to store the raid config.

Seems like it is; I've swapped the oldest SATA drive (from 2006) and now seems to work even after removing the power cable. I will do some tests in the next few days and let you know for future users!

Update:
Sometimes this also happens: https://i.imgur.com/lIlTpnT.png and I have to reboot the system to be able to re-import the configuration

Hi steafnor.
You are right, the battery is not intended to keep the RAID information stored. The RAID information is stored once on the hard drive and also in the RAIDs ROM.
Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps:
- Update your systems and controller firmware (iDRAC, LifeCycleController, BIOS, PERC) to the latest and check if the issue persists.

- Often a power drain helps to solve such situations, so please power down the system, disconnect all cables (ethernet, power, etc.) then press and hold the power button for at least 20 seconds. This will release any flea power on the system.
Plug the cables back in and power on the system.
- Try to reseat the controller, maybe there is just some sort of a connectivity issue, the system is pretty old, so that components connectors may corrode, a reseat could help here.
If it does not solve the issue, it might be that the controller is broken and needs to be replaced.

Thanks, I will try!! Can you also please tell me if this issue can be caused by a bad Hard Drive? I can try to swap them with newer ones.

Hi steafnor.
Well, faulty hard drives can lead to anything ^^ Sometimes we do not expect that such things are caused by it, but here we see again, it can be.
I'm happy to hear that it is just an old hard drive, it is easier to get this one swapped than replacing the controller
