get error can not update on a " - ", then quits

I got it to Work
created a boot floppy for 2.7.0
when got message on cannot complete
enter 020700.exe /FORCETYPE
It completed and worked!!!

Are you sure this is an actual Dell PowerEdge 2950, and not a rebranded version of the 2950?
When you boot to the BIOS, what system does it say you are on? What is the current BIOS version?

Are you sure this is an actual Dell PowerEdge 2950, and not a rebranded version of the 2950?
When you boot to the BIOS, what system does it say you are on? What is the current BIOS version?
