400SC AGP Graphic card problem
I'm having problems getting my AGP graphics card to work.
I understand the AGP slot isn't officially supported (but many have gotten it to work).
Setup: PNY Verto Ti4200 AGP card, Windows XP, installed Intel Chipset Software.
Boots fine with the ATI Rage XL PCI card. With the Ti4200 installed, Device Manager will show the card and indicates it is functioning properly. When I boot up with the monitor connected to the Ti4200 -- nothing. I have even disabled the Rage and still no good. I have changed the bios to AGP -- no good. Sometimes Device manager will even show a Ti4600 instead. I got it to work once on the Ti4200 but when I rebooted, nothing. I went back to the Rage, rebooted and device manager showed only the Rage card. The Ti4200 disappeared completely.
I have gone back and forth and tried many different combinations. I have even pulled the Rage and tried booting with just the Ti4200 but still nothing. When I say nothing, I mean no signal to the monitor.
Should I uninstall the Rage card all together? My fear is I won't have any graphics at all at boot up.
Strange and frustrating problem.
I must be missing something here and any advice would be appreciated.

I think you are going to have to bite the bullet and completely uninstall the Rage card.
I've set up three 400SC's with AGP cards and what I did (IIRC) was to uninstall the Rage drivers from 'Add or Remove Programs' and uninstall the card in the Device Manager. Then I'd shut off the computer, remove the PCI card, and put in the AGP card. Next I'd restart and change the BIOS setting. After XP started up and detected the AGP card, I'd then install the drivers for the AGP card.
However, I haven't tried to run the PCI and AGP cards simultaneously. I'm thinking that you might also want to completely uninstall the Ti4200, too, and freshly install it without the Rage card being in there.
The only difficulty I ran into with one of the 400SC's was actually not with the 400SC. I was swapping the AGP card out of another system and putting the PCI card from the 400SC card into it. Putting the AGP card into the 400SC went fine, but when I put the PCI card into the other system (a older Dell), I forgot to change the BIOS setting. The computer started to boot up fine initially, but then the display went blank. After that I couldn't get any response from the display at all. After trying several things that didn't work, I ended up having to put the AGP card back in and restart it so that it could be redected. The display then starting working normally. Then I removed the AGP card once again and installed the PCI card, remembering to change the BIOS this time. It's worked fine since.
