Brand New Dell T20 Server with Wrong components that do not match Service tag
So I ordered a T20 server as a lab system/toy box for personal use, and my order had the core specs of
- Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.2GHz Quad Core CPU
- 4GB DDR3
- 1TB 7200RPM HDD
- DVDRW Drive
The Service Tag on the system indicates the above specs as well when I visit the support site, and my order/invoice shows the correct hardware as well.
However the Actual system is:
Missing the DVD Drive (The blank slot filler is there, so was never even removed)
Has a Seagate 500GB Drive
Has a Pentium G3220 CPU
I attempted to contact Dell support, the first triage tech transfered me to customer care, who i could barely understand, and when she finally understood that what I ordered and what I received Didn't match (She thought I ordered the wrong hardware), she said I had to goto Tech support, and transfered me back to the Triage call center. The next triage tech said I needed to goto Sales support, and when he xfered me, it dropped the call, and said to try my call again later. At this point I gave up and decided I'll call on monday.
So I'm wondering what the appropriate support channel should be for this issue. I think I should be able to exchange the server for a new one with the CORRECT specs, but I'm hoping someone here may be able to share the best way to get this taken care of.
Thanks and Happy 4th!

If you ordered the Server though a Sales person, contact them. If you ordered it online, you need to get to customer care as they can do a RMA and re-order on the Server so that you get the correct specs. Do not let customer care transfer you, they are "sales support". Ask for a manager if you need to.
