Cannot find DRAC firmware download

We have a DRAC 5 in a PowerEdge 1950 running Windows Server 2012R2. I cannot get a console window that works with the DRAC 5 on my Windows 8.1 laptop with either IE, Chrome or Firefox. The window is blank in Chrome and Firefox and the toolbar does not work when I click on the buttons in IE, so cannot send a ctrl-alt-del. I figured the DRAC firmware needs updating. It is on v1.0 (Build 06.05.12). When I go to the downloads for my PE1950, it does not show any DRAC firmware downloads. The DRAC was bought later, not with the system. I have searched on Google trying to find Dell DRAC5 firmware downloads but cannot find any that apply to a PE1950 or that I can get to work with it. When I try to run them, I'm told they don't work with my system. I figured that updating the firmware might get the console to work better. My previous experience with consoles not working on DRACs was that Dell had me update the firmware. So please tell me where I can find the firmware since I am not finding it with searching.

The forum doesn't like FTP sites and he didn't change the FTP to HTTP.

They are here:

http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/poweredge-1950.html

Choose the Update Package for Microsoft Windows first (has WN32 in the namem, labeled External on the FTP site). If you have problems, use the Hard Drive version.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, the update is not working. It starts updating then fails with the error: "The update failed to complete; you must restart your system and try again." I've restarted and tried again but it keeps failing.

In researching the error I reported when trying to update to 1.65, it appears that I need to upgrade in a stepwise fashion. I am currently on v1.0. Can you find a link to an earlier firmware version for me? Maybe 1.60? I cannot find 1.60 for DRAC5 that is compatible with PE1950. The only link I could find is for a PowerVault system from the DRAC5 wiki: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/4358.drac5-home

I did manage to find a lower level update, v1.2, but it won't install, either. It crashes just the same. I also tried updating with the racadm command and racadm crashes before the update finishes with the following error. So I am stumped as to how to get the firmware upgraded on my DRAC:

Hello,

You could try updating the other firmware first (esm, bios etc...) Or remove drac and update bmc first.

Here are all the versions I could find of the DRAC 5

ftp.dell.com/.../a00_060515.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v120_a01.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v121_a00.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v130_a00.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v132_a00.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v133_a00.exe
ftp.dell.com/.../f_drac5v140_a00.exe

I did update all the other firmware first, including the BMC, before I tried to update the DRAC. Thanks for all the links. I will give those a try.

Unfortunately, none of those links you posted work because of the /.../ in them. Can you tell me what the full path is?

Actually got this error when upgrade bios on R620

One server was OK no issue then next one

the update failed to complete; you must restart your system and try again

Try to upgrade from 2.5.2 to BIOS_WJ5N7_WN64_2.8.0.EXE

Maybe that was my fault because first update iDrac then BIOS

Upgrade iDrac to latest got same same error on Bios update

Try to reset bios nothing then download OLD VERSION

Start update 2.5.4 get error ---> dell bios system services is disabled

Fix this by change

BIOS->iDRAC in the lifecycle controller menu. Turn that to enabled.

Upgrade to 2.5.4 no issue

Try upgrade to 2.8.0 after restart nothing happens -> forgot unplug USB stick maybe this is issue on R610/R410 that was a case

try 2.5.4 to -> 2.7.0

R620biosupdate.png

Then try BIOS_WJ5N7_WN64_2.8.0.EXE from 2.7.0 and its update at last
