Dell HBA355e Adapter Compatibility
I would like to know if this card is compatible with Poweredge T440. I have an Ultrium 4 Tape and I need a way to connect the tape reader to my server using SFF-8088 cord.

HBA355e adapter is supported on T440. You can refer below link for list of supported platform for HBA355e

I don't know if I well understood the question, but you can read LTO4 only with LTO6.

Is there a way to get my LTO-4 up to a LTO-6? I do not have a working device to get the information off.

I was asking if my Ultrium 4 tape can be read by an LTO-6 and if the LTO-6 is compatible with HBA355e and if that is compatible with my T440. OR can my LTO-4 or -5 also work with the card.
Also is there any software required to make any of these work together?

I also would like to know if the card I have now "MODEL: UCS-70" would work with the server and save me all these other steps.

Corey Ferrell,
The Ultrium 4 tapes are indeed supported on the LTO-6, as seen on page 9 here, also the LTO-6 supports the HBA355, as seen on page 8 here.
I don't believe there is any required software, but I would recommend OpenManage or another mgmt/monitoring software.
Laslty, I am not certain about the compatibility of the card, do you have a specific part # for it, and we can verify if it is.
Let me know if this helps.

All I know is that Qty 2, 12Gb SAS HBA, dual port, low profile, Customer Kit | Dell USA is visually the exact same thing as the part that I currently have and that it is stamped for the 9/1/2015. Would this device also be compatible with my T440? Is it compatible with an LTO-4 or do I need an LTO-6?

Hello,
yes it is compatible with T440, but I didn't found any documentation that attest that it will work with an LTO-6, although it should work.

Hello,
So we having connected and we can see the drivers for the devices but we cannot find the device elsewhere within the system. Is there anything we can do to find it?
We looked at updating the drivers but it says they are fully up to date.

Hello Corey,
Along with making sure the system BIOS is up to date I recommend confirming the Chipset is updated also.
