Dell PowerEdge T410 Ambient temperature sensor issue?

Getting email alerts saying "Message from server: Temperature Probe Detects a Failure."
System Board Ambient Temp in OMSA says it's 45-48 degrees Celsius.

Another Dell server in that same closet is 25 degrees Celsius (which is the correct ambient temp). Physically blowing out the dust didn't help. Fans are all blowing at maximum speed. Power supply LEDs are green. All other OMSA health components are Green checkmarks. Physically touching all the heatsinks in the chassis didn't find anything remotely hot.

System is online and functional, though worrisome of course.

What do you recommend we try?

Thanks for your suggestions

Hi there,

It seems your case may be a sensor fault in the system as you have tried touching the heatsink physically.

Can you PM the service tag of the server so I can look further?

Thanks,

PM service wasn't working and still isn't working.

Tried typing various names into the Recipients: box in the PC screen...it always says "no matches were found"

Typed in Dell, Dell-, Wilson, support, heck even my own name...same message.

Tried 2 different browsers.

Email me via <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>  and I'll send you the tag?

PM service wasn't working, so here's the tag anyways: [ADMIN NOTE: Service Tag removed per privacy policy]

Alright, well your systems still aren't working, so PM ME so I can respond with the tag.

Sorry about the complications you had back there. I was away earlier.

Checked the service tag provided and found you have a case with us.

As far as warranty for this system is concerned it is currently out of warranty. One of my colleagues have already sent both part numbers for motherboard and the control panel which the ambient sensor resides on.

Do let me know should you require a quote to have the parts replaced.

Click on Dell-Wilson K's name (it is a link), which will take you here:

then click on Send a Private Message:

The view from Firefox and IE 11 are the same, no option to send PM:

While we're at it, here's the Private Message screen, and why I couldn't PM that way either:

Again, 2 different browsers, no adblockers in either one. Even tried compatibility view in IE11.

I'm running Windows 10, but I doubt that matters...
