Dell T630 dual GPU upgrade

Hi Dell support,

upgraded a T630 w/ RPSU 1100W (no longer warranty) from dual Nvidia Tesla X  to Nvidia RTX 3080.  Performance great on the working card. After the upgrade, I can only see one of the cards.  Anyone know why?  Tried to cap the power, but it isn't persistent across boots. Suggestions?

FYI; Upgraded everything using DSU 1.9 prior to reboot.

Hello,

These forums are monitored by Dell employees and I wanted to at least respond to your post. The RTX 3080 is not a supported PCI card, unfortunately. Someone in the community may have found a way to get this configuration to work, though. I would have to leave it to them.

As for your comment on power, you might try coming at it from another angle - at least for troubleshooting purposes. If you're interested, you can go into the iDRAC web GUI and disable the redundancy policy for the PSUs. If you are indeed having insufficient power, this may resolve it.

Given that the V100 is supported but is too much for my budget, I went with 2 RTX3080. Do not understand why you cripple the otherwise nice machine. It can't be about physical limitations, rather about bios settings/policies.

> disable the redundancy policy

Tried that already. Did not work.  Swapped in one of the old "Tesla X" cards, and then only it is detected.

Currently running AI/ML stuff on one of the RTX3080's until I can afford a new rig that isn't crippled intentionally. Hardly over 450W total when GPU is maxed out.

Hello,

as Dylan said we cannot go deep in the troubleshooting as the card is not supported.

Let's see if other customer had the same issue.

Thanks

Marco
