Dell poweredge 2950 memory problem

Hi,

First time post here. I've got a old but solid dell poweredge server with 4x 1gb ram in it. model of the ram is : Hynix 1gb 2rx8 pc2-5300f-555-11. Tried today replacing it with 8x 4gb  model hynix 4gb 2xR4 pc2-5300f-555-11. Did not work it give me error 2010 no memory. After a little reach i found the my bios and BMC needed some update. Now BMC is at 2.50 and bios is at 2.70.0 witch are the latest i could find.

Acording to what i've seen every where this machine should be able to support the 32gb of ram i'm trying to put in.  Anyone as a clue for me???

Hello.

Tried today replacing it with 8x 4gb  model hynix 4gb 2xR4 pc2-5300f-555-11.

Are you actually referring to 2x 4R or 4x 2R? Note that the 2950 server does not support Quad Rank memory modules.  If the memory is supported, then they may be faulty. Try with 2 memory sticks at a time on Slots 1 &2. The server supports up to 64 GB of memory

Have you tried with 2 memory sticks at a time on Slots 1 &2? Ensure the DIMMs are firmly seated onto the slots.

The memory is either unsupported or DOA. Replace memory if possible use P/N 9F035 for 4 GB,667M, 2RX4
