Disabling Raid from poweredge R6525

Hi,

I have a poweredge R6525 and wish to install windows OS on a normal drive instead of raid drives, how do I disable raid or what do I have to do so that the system is able detect non-raid drives?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Best Regards,
Tommy

Hi,

you could create a RAID 0 Array with only 1 Disk and then you are able to install OS on a single disk.

Did you have any further questions?

Hi Martin,

Is there any possible ways to not create any raid arrays at all? No raid 0, raid 1 or raid 5, just standard AHCI.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Tommy

Hello, what RAID controller are you currently using?

Hi @Tommy9966,

I don’t see any adapter with the name PERC H775N.

Perhaps, It’s an H755N adapter, If so please refer to the below article and check if it helps.

Hi, I did as the article that was provided, why is the layout still raid-0?

That's because you are actually still using RAID, not non raid but if you change to non raid you will lose all the data.

I followed exactly as the article already mentioned, go in the bios, device to configure and click ok to convert the disks to non-raid, but why is it still showing RAID 0 in the layout???

What is the IDRAC supposed to show when I convert to NON-RAID?

Why can I not detect any drives also when I turn off the raid card in the integrated device section of the bios?

Hi @Tommy9966,

I would suggest you restart the server after the changes are made.

Also, based on your connectivity, the integrated controller must be enabled in order to be able to detect the drives.

I am also attaching a cable reference guide for you to recheck the cabling.
