PCI Graphics Card on Poweredge 1600sc
I am trying to turn a poweredge 1600sc into a desktop machine, i want to fit a better grpahics card to the onboard one so invested in a Sparkle GeForce 8500GT PCI card. However once it is the computer laods up the first dell screen fine, the next screen with all the scsi and raid settings fine but anything after that it will hang on a black screen letting out single beeps every 10 seconds or so, if you leave it progress is made VERY slowly, it takes a few minutes to get into the bios and i left it on beeping away for 30 minutes and had some progress with vista being somewhere close to loading up. Ive read up that GeForce 6200's didnt work in the past on these, and ive tried different versions on bios, i called dell and they couldnt advise anything and from reading on here it seems the 1600sc's dont really like any pci gfx card.
So i was wondering if anyone knew of a solution or of any pci gfx cards they had managed to fit that worked fine, i tried a very old ATI Rage card and that worked but its far too old for what i want to use the machine for, so not a viable option.
Any ideas?
