PowerEdge 1950 front panel LCD has a blinking cursor

Jump to solution

It's like a DOS prompt ready for the next command, with nothing else showing.  LCD is lit solid blue, regardless of the LED status at the rear of the server (blinking, amber, etc.).  All firmware and driver updates have been loaded.  Even trying to edit the front panel content does nothing to change this.  Performed a complete shutdown and unplugged power as well.  Is there a way to reset the front panel?

Oddly, the display returned to normal once I lifted the lid...  Thanks for the replies!

Not really.  If you have tried updating the ESM/BMC and editing the LCD text in the BIOS/OMSA, then there isn't much left to do.  It could be the panel is malfunctioning, or that the ESM is corrupt (the ESM sends the messages to the LCD panel).

You can try removing the control panel ribbon cable from the control panel and the motherboard and reconnecting.
