PowerEdge 2900 system fan 4 failure

Good Afternoon,

Does anyone know specifically which fan this might be? Anyone have a pinout diagram for this MB? NX642

The server is 60 miles away and I'm trying to determine which fan it is so I can order the part first.

Thanks For any help.

yes, that's the fan that blows down on the memory sticks.

CSATech,

The fan layout for the 2900 is shown below.

The part number for the middle fans would be NF078.

Hope this helps.

Thank You Chris!

The part # you provided...is that the part number for that particular (Fan 4) fan?

Is that just a housing fan as opposed to a CPU cooling fan? The last time I was in the case I think that fan is just blowing down on the memory stick. Is that correct?

Hi,

Just to confirm, the title is stating fan 4, but you post is fan 2.

If you can, could you remove any of the system fan and swap to the issue slot to check if it's the slot issue or fan issue? I glanced through the parts database, and only found DPN# C9857 for PE2900 fan only.

Hi,

Yes, in this case is fan 2. I just posted it here because I wanted to confirm if that P/N was NF078 as stated in this post for fan 4, or if it was C9857 as I have also found on other databases.

I will swap the system fans to check if it's the slot issue or fan issue, thank you!

Lausalazar,

NF078 is the part number for the fan housing,

not for the fan itself, which is part C9857.
