PowerEdge C6100 servers - How to change the Product Name
Hi everybody!
I bought a replacement node board for a C6100 server on ebay because the original node board got failed. The problem was that the new board came set with "XS23-TY3" at the "Name" field on Product Information (BIOS screen) instead of C6100 as expected. I need to change it to C6100 as it was in the old board. I did a successfull BIOS update to version 1.7.4 using a bootable DOS pendrive, but no change at Product Name. I'd really appreciate any hint.
Thanks,
Marcio.

Hello,
I'm not seeing a place where you can modify the name of a C6100 in either the BIOS or the BMC. I checked the BMC and hardware manuals, too. The TY3 part would indicate to me that you got an OEM board, though. What you might try is updating to BIOS 1.81. I didn't see a 1.7.4 listed on the site anywhere. Try downloading this file, renaming it to something like BIOS.exe, then running BIOS.exe /forceit. It would also be good to update the BMC, if it isn't on 1.33 already.

BMC 1.33: https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01674132M/1/ESM_Firmware_9VJW6_WN32_1.33.EXE

Hello DELL-Dylanj,
Thanks for your reply.
I'll try it as soon as I can get to the datacenter and post the results here.
Best Regards,

I tried the firmware force upgrade on a XS23-TY3 and while the update appeared to succeed, the node appears to be bricked after the power cycle. Is there any way to revert or otherwise recover it?
