PowerEdge T110 stuck in a loop maybe, cannot go into Setup F2 or F10 or F11 Error Code 2 Light on fornt
Hi all,
Anyone come across this.
My old PowerEdge T110 refuses to go to setup F2 or F10 System services of F11 Boot options for Bios.
I am getting a number 2 light on front panel diagnostic error lights , have checked each interface card pci separately, taken battery out to try and clear settings. No success.
Yesterday I did get it to boot to old Windows 2008 system on a Dell hard drive 500 GB size. Which is what came with system, even though no raid configuration was set, it still booted with the S100 cables Blue ones connected to that drive. Maybe I fluked it, as I had used a Live Image ISO Linux Boot CD first.
Update and bizzare one to me.
Take USB keyboard and USB Mouse out and it tries to load Windows 2008 sbs
change both, still get same error above.
Cannot repat this at all.
Any suggestions guys?
Specs of system are

Thanks
Phil

Philby12,
The #2 diagnostic light is indicating an expansion card failure, that and the issues you described seem to indicate that the raid controller for the server is causing issues. Would you clarify the expansion cards installed, as well as the raid controller being used? If the controller is removed, or if taken to the Minimum to Post configuration, does the other issues you described cease to occur?
Minimum to Post is removing everything from the server but the following.
Let me know what you see.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply and sorry for my late one.
Controller card
DELL SAS RAID SCSI E2K-UCS-61 6/IR
Pent 2.53 Quad Core l2l3 16gb ram.
Factory shipped Original Dell 500gb drives x 2
It seems best guess issue might be dust. Although random fault as far as KB and Mouse USB, other USB devices like a USB External HD, no problem. Go Figure.
As for Controller card, That Error code 2 goes off once the system has booted into Win 2008 OS.
I do have a replacement one that came today to test.
We'll see what it does.
The person who set the system up, I cannot contact anymore and investigations I have made on the system, he never set up raid at all, yet both HD are connected to controller's cables. But Boot mode is ASCI.
When I do try to boot in Raid mode, it says initialising disks but fails, and out of raid mode, Controller card informs me that volume 000 and 005 degraded.
With existing Controller card, It doesn't find any Physical disks at all, How does it know they are degraded?
More work to be done, not as easy as the R610 I am upgrading everything to, set up, even getting the T110 to update all its firmware etc. is hit and miss. Even with all software on a Boot CD.
I just did a quick search on other posts about this issue and this system and found this, which may help.

Although cannot see any link to
System Build and Update Utility DVD ISO: Posts mentions.
Do you know it? Like to compare to what I have tried with Boot CD I mentioned.
Just checked Dell system specs and found this.
www.dell.com/.../driversdetails
Would be the first thing to update. I suspect.
I've done Bios & the on board NIC driver.
Thanks
Phil

Post I put to publisher of video.
"thanks for posting this video, hard one to find for this Controller card. You or anyone on here been able to fix a problem I am having with mine. System says both my original equal sized 500gb Sata drives of Dell's are degraded, But when I get into Cntl C section as per video of yours, I cannot get anywhere when I press enter on any of the "
What would be stopping me from being able to get into the raid settings here.
