Hello.

The Samsung SSD 850 Pro disk is not validated to work on this server but it does not mean that it will not work. The issue here is with the controller firmware which will not communicate well with the disk and as such you will be seeing a couple of persistent errors and alerts in relation to the disk. Such alerts may include disk in critical state, unavailable, unsupported, etc. I would recommend using Dell certified enterprise class drives.

You didn't say which controller you are using, which makes a world of difference. If you are using the onboard SATA ports, then the 850's will probably be fine. If you are using a RAID controller, they "might" be ok, but the most common problem that you may run into is that they consistently show as failed/offline even when they are not, simply because they do not properly relay their status to the controller.

We are using onboard SATA drives. We had faced issues with Lsi raid controller. Now then we are better to change the ssds to poweredge dell server.
