Today I tried the second adapter. I used Windows and this update https://www.dell.com/support/home/cs-cz/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=cdpgf&oscode=w12r2&productcode=poweredge-r730xd

The update showed success but now this adapter does not show up as Network adapter and shows question mark in Device Manager. How is this possible?

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

No, the card did not come with the server. Our university bought the card separately. Does it matter?

What OS are you using? In general the latest versions are recommended.

I have Windows Server 2019 installed.

I had this version installed (also on screenshot).

I uninstalled this version and used the version suggested. During installation I got BSOD and now Windows won't boot. It is a pain but I can reinstall it. What version of OS and driver is the best to install?

This one lists 2019 support https://dell.to/2RrF2v2

Yes, but does not list the card. Would WS 2016 be then better choice?

Hi,

The firmware does seem to list WS2016 as supported OS. Probably 2016 is a better choice.

May I know if the card is a Dell card? If yes, do you have the DPN#?

What server model is the card installed in?

Hi, as far as I know this model is Dell specific. Right now are the cards in desktop PC.

Are those the numbers you are asking for?

Hi,

the DPN is the number in question. We ask, because, we need to check if you have the Dell cards installed. Other vendors also use those cards with a specific firmware, if this card is not a Dell card the Dell firmware may brake the card.

Do you have physical access to the server? If yes, please see the card, there is a sticker with a QR code on it. There you will find the DP/N.

Also please let us know the system you are using the card in, what kind of a Dell server do you own.

Cheers
Stefan

Yes, there is a sticker with a QR code. It says DP/N 0XV3MV. I was given this card to test it before it goes to the server because the server cannot be out of order for a long time. I do not know what server it will be used in, I am not in charge of that.
