R620 - Cannot set System Host Name - there is no way to input this?!

Jump to solution
We got some R620s in, and are having some BIOS/iDRAC issues - specifically no defined host name... it seems it cannot be set anywhere...
I can set the iDRAC name, but the system name is different and seems to have no interface anywhere to set it.
I spent two hours looking in BIOS, Lifecycle, and in iDRAC settings. Nothing... Even reset the iDRAC, lost all my configs, still no change or prompt.
As a side note, OS Info is missing even though Server 2008 R2 is installed. Where on Earth do these values get set?

Hi LMark,

The system host name is pulled from the OS it is not a user configurable field, same with the OS field, Do you have Openmanage Server Administrator installed on the server? This should allow for the information to be communicated to the iDRAC.

That works... but...
It actually is user configurable.

You can use the racadm tool and specify the following lines in a cfg file...

[ifcRacManagedNodeOs]
ifcRacMnOsHostname=<SERVER_NAME_HERE>

And then load it in to the iDRAC using this command:
racadm -r <SERVER_NAME_HERE> -u root -p calvin config -f file.cfg
