R710 displays only 640x480

I have 2 Dell R710's that only display 640x480 out of both the VGA ports. There is no indication of a video driver issue, and these devices are on 24/7 so it's not like it happened during a reboot. Any idea's?

Hello

The display options are limited by the capability of both the video and monitor drivers. If you have the correct video driver installed then the video should be capable of 1280x1024 at maximum. I would suggest reviewing  your output device to make sure it is capable of 1280x1024.

Thanks

I have looked for days, and cannot find any drivers for the R710 with Server 2016.

Defaults to Microsoft Basic VGA.

Hey JohnNMiami,

The Dell PowerEdge R710 has an Integrated Matrox G200 video card.  The R710s are not validated/supported with Windows 2016.  However, the R720 uses the same G200 chip, with iDR7 enhancements (I am not sure what that is).

If you like to try the driver that was published for the R720 with the integrated Matrox G200 chip, check out the following.

Disclaimer: ***USE AT YOUR OWN RISK***THIS IS NOT A DELL SOLUTION***

Matrox Video Driver: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=hrvnd

Supported OS: Windows Server 2012; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2016

Cheers.

THIS WORKED PERFECT!!

Initially I "Ran" the program as it was intedned, The Auto install option. This told me i had the incorrect machine.

So, I then

Extract file -->

Open Device Manager -->

find and select Display Adapters --->

go to properties on your display adapter --->

Update Drivers --->

Install from your own list --->

Select Have Disk ---->

Find File Called MxG2wDO --->

This will then bring in two drivers I selected the V2.0 --->

Scary Black Screen......... then poof Perfect Resolution!  SO HAPPY

p.s. THIS WORKED FOR ME; DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I instaled Windows Server 2019 on it, but the resolution is only 640X480.

When i try to install video card driver , i recive bluescreen with the message "system  thread exception not handled"

Can i do something about it ?

Hello PacoIT

I don't know that WS2019 will work correctly.  WS2019 was not validated for the R710:

Your PowerEdge R710 supports these operating systems:

https://dell.to/3tK7U5i

Supports up to Windows Server 2012 R2

Did you try the front and rear VGA ports?

Have you tried the driver they posted above? It's not for WS2019, it's for WS2016,  but you may try if you like.

We can see if anyone in the community has successfully run WS2019 on R710 and can share their experience.
