R710 stuck at splash screen

I have recently got a Dell R710 shipped to my place.
The power is turning on, Memory configured properly. But when it loads into the splash screen, it's stuck!!
Keyboard lights won't turn on, no response is given.

↑ This is the stuck position (exact progress).

I have tried
a) removing all hard drives, external USB.
b) Just put 1 2GB RAM in slot A1
c) Running with just one CPU (CPU swapped to ensure not faulty)
d) Remove Raid Card
e) Reset Bios and Raid Card through removing the battery for 10 mins
f) Use the jumper to clear VRAM

DRAC can be loaded, but it is a used server... Which the previous owner did not reset the password... Not getting through the splash screen also means no reset of DRAC password can be made Orz

Searched on Google and found someone having the save issue as me. He figured it out by doing a factory reset through DRAC. Will there be anyway to do a Hard Factory reset or DRAC reset? Or other suggestion on what may cause the problem will help.
Many thanks X_X
If it is a faulty machine... Then I will consider firing a dispute T_T

Ericlamyp,

I would start by confirming everything is removed from the server but the following;

  • System board
  • Risers
  • Processor (CPU1) with Heatsink
  • Power Supply
  • One stick of memory in dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slot A1
  • Control Panel with cable

It sounds like that's what you were doing, but wanted to confirm everything but those were removed.

While doing this try reseating the listed devices/connections as well.

With the iDrac the default user/password should be root / calvin . Did the previous user remove that combination as well?

Let me know what you see.

This actually works finally.

I think what I did not unplug was the DVD-Rom...

But the DVD ROM is actually working after I remove and reinstall.

Not a single component seems to have failed. I put them all back in and it works like a beast.

But your answer actually works, although I don't know why lol

Thanks for the reply :)

After a lot of head scratching, unplugging this and that, crying, RTFM. I found the problem for my system was a loose main board. I only found out by removing the fans (yet again) and see it move slightly. I jiggled it about and thought, "Can't be?", but when you're at your end's tether, any port in a storm.

It boots normally now. What I found weird was the iDRAC was accessible for a short time and showed the system as green and working.

Anyway I hope this helps?

Regards to all
