R720 with E5-2670 Processor
Hi everyone,
Recently I've upgraded my R720 server with Intel Xeon E5-2670.
After the upgrade the processors temperatures are higher than before.
Before the upgrade the temperature was around 62º and now is around 78º.
For this processor, E5-2670, this temperature is normal?
Anyone could help me?

Hello
78 celsius is close to the thermal limit. There is more than one version of the E5-2670, so I'm not sure which one you installed. I think the thermal limit is 80 celsius.
If you upgraded to a higher wattage CPU then the temperature will likely be higher, but you shouldn't be this close to the thermal limit. I would suspect that either or both the thermal paste was not applied or not applied correctly or the ambient temperature in the server room is high.
If your server room is properly cooled then I would remove the heatsinks, clean the heatsinks and top of the CPUs, and then reapply the thermal paste/grease.
Thanks
