R730 VSAN HCL QLOGIC 57810 Cant find FW version 12.13?

Hi guys.

The VMware hardware compatibility list has recommended that we use FW version 7.13 for our NICs for our R730s. The card shows up as QLogic 57800 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

www.vmware.com/.../detail.php

The trouble is, i cant seem to see any firmware higher than 7.12.19

Dell Download R730

The driver on the Dell ESXi 6.0 U3 image is 2.713.10.v60.4

At this rate I will have to downgrade the driver to 2.712.10.v55.4 manually so we can be under a supported configuration.

Anyone else ran into similar issues with getting their Dell servers to match the VMware compatibility list?

2.713.10.v60.4

Hi,

I do not see the 12.13 available, so we may not have validated it.

Thanks Josh.

Do you know what the recommendation going forward would be?

The driver is what came with the Dell ESXi build, but its not supported with Dells FW validated release.
Which is a big no no if you raise a ticket with VMware.

This means I will have to look at manually installing a older driver.

It looks like the HCL is for esxi not for vSAN and vSAN doesn’t have NICS on its HCL, so you don’t need to match the firmware and driver versions.

Would it be possible to escalate this to to someone in the VMware team?

Its best practice to have the hosts match the HCL, regardless of VSAN or not.

We have seen errors using the nicinfo tool.

I was told to downgrade the driver.
