RDIMM Memory module compatibility on PowerEdge T310

Hi,

I would like to know whether RDIMM Memory Module of Device Width x4 is supported with T310.

From the manual, it says only x8 is support. x4 and x12 is not supported. And also mention 256/512 RDIMM technology only is supported.

"RDIMMs of 256 Mb/512 Mb technologies and x4/x16 DRAM device widths are not supported."

Source: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Dell/PowerEdge-T310/Manual/189781?page=1

So from that, I can conclude all below are not supported for T310, even though claimed otherwise by the dealer:

16GB (2X 8GB)  Memory Kit ECC Registered 4 ranks x8 using 256x8 DDR3 PC3-10600 1333MHz 240 Pin Memory Modules (Ebay Link" title="Ebay Link">Ebay Link)

32GB (4X 8GB 2RX4 PC3-8500R-7-10-DP Memory Modules) (Ebay Link">Ebay Link)

Can this be confirmed ?

Please find below:

Appreciate the help. Thanks.

Hi Sothye,

Thanks for getting back to me, it's very much appreciated.

1st link (www.ebay.com/.../160522486549) - This isn't supported officially due to the speed of the module, while this memory kit has a x8 DRAM width, the memory itself is quad rank and the fastest quad rank RDIMM that this system can handle is 1066MHz.

2nd link (www.ebay.com/.../350500402662) - I would say that this isn't supported. The link itself is light on information but it has a photograph which may be the RDIMM. This appears to be a dual rank RDIMM at 1066MHz, which has x4 DRAM width (as shown by the 2Rx4 on the photograph), x4 DRAM width modules aren't supported.

3rd link (www.ebay.com/.../400262252412) - This appears to be compatible and is listed as compatible on Kingston's website (http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/partsinfo.asp?root=&LinkBack=&ktcpartno=KTD-PE310Q8/8G&id=2)

Please note that this is advice about third-party memory modules and that Dell cannot be held responsible should you buy any of these modules based on this advice and find that they do not work as these are modules that Dell have not tested for compatibility.

I do, however, hope that this helps you with your query! Thanks for your time and for using Dell.

Hi there,

Is there any chance that you can repost the links to the memory you are looking at buying? I believe that the first memory kit may actually be compatible, however I need to see the link to confirm this for you.

Thanks!
