Replacing Backplane on PowerEdge 2950 question
I just bought a used 2950 and have been playing around with it when I realized some of the hard drive indicator lights were not working. It turns out that the fiber optic in the drive tray had mashed up against the led light on the backplane and pulled them off. This being the problem, I would like to replace the backplane so all the lights will work. I am wondering if when I replace the backplane, will I lose my raid configuration or anything or will the system boot up just like it is right now? Thanks

The RAID configuration is not stored on the backplane - it is stored on the controller and on the drives. Replacing the backplane will have no affect on the RAID configuration.
