SUU for 2850 running WindowsServer2008R2

Hi

I have recently bought an old PowerEdge2850 running Windows Server 2008r2. I am trying to update the servers Firmware. I downloaded the SUU image under the 2850 section but when I ran it it said that the OS was not supported - which I now see is correct.

Can someone please point me in the right direction here to find the correct SUU download.

I know it is a good idea to be current but is it really necessary?

Thanx

Mike

Thank you Flash... that's exactly what I wanted to know. PS: It's a home server for me to test a few things on so you are correct in presuming that the data is not critical... Thanx again Mike

"I know it is a good idea to be current but is it really necessary?"

If it is in production or housing important services or data, the answer is YES. Given the age of the machine, I might assume though that it is not critical - well, hopefully anyway ;) but it is still a good idea. Proper server maintenance includes firmware and driver patches.

First, it is probably easier to update items individually instead of using SUU - I'd probably just check items individually to see what is needed. Since you have SUU already (a version that supports the 2850), you can use it together with SBUU/SMTD as the repository of updates for the firmware update feature of SBUU.

SBUU:

SMTD (includes SBUU, but it is a multi-part ISO that needs to be assembled, SBUU standalone recommended):
